Sisters on the Eastside College/Trade School Scholarships
This Scholarship will help young people from Nairobi, Homa Bay, and Kanyamfwa, who do not have the financial resources with a push to get started in their education.а These Scholarships will aid young women and men for the future.а Most importantly to give back to their community.
The Sisters on the Eastside College/Trade Scholarship Fund seeks to extend this model of collaboration and partnering of resources to the development of young people.а Organizers have built a program designed to make an impact in a young personТs life.а In addition to academic achievement this scholarship also values drive, determination, leadership potential, and the ability to impact oneТs life personally and professionally.
Eligibility:
- Young women and men between the ages 17 Ц 22, including those currently enrolled in a program to earn a vocational certificate.
- Resident of Kenya currently enrolled in Nairobi, Homa
Bay, and Kanyamfwa.
Award Criteria:
- Recipients must have strong character evidenced through two references and answers to essay questions.
- Recipients must demonstrate leadership potential evidenced through commitment to their community and school.
- Recipients must be goal-oriented and able to complete an academic or vocational program demonstrated by describing their future goals.
- Recipients must maintain at least a C+ grade average in secondary, post-secondary or vocational certificate programs.а Candidates may also demonstrate achievement through accomplishment in other areas including the performing arts, visual arts, and crafts.
- Recipients must be willing to share their experiences with AAKEWO and future applicants in person or by appropriate means and by mutual agreement with the scholarship committee.
